Christmas Greeting Video.

This year I am sad to say I did not get around to mailing out Christmas cards.  There are a few reasons behind that de-lima, number one, I couldn't pick just one picture that I liked over the rest.  Number two, I really wanted to design my own card but am not experienced enough in photoshop, YET.  There is always next year though right.  On the plus side I was able to put together this really neat "Christmas Greeting Video."  So with that all said I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with blessings beyond your dreams.

P.S. Below is a link to our Christmas Video.

Light at the end of the tunnel.

Merry Christmas EVE!
Its a warm 57 degrees here in Sunny California.
Our time home has been bitter sweet to say the least.
We came home to a broken heater and spent the night in a 40 degree house using body heat to keep us warm.  Thanks to the best father in law ever, a toasty fireplace now keeps us warm.   Following that blessing some of our best friends surprised us by putting a huge beautiful Christmas tree in our house.  I got it all decorated, sparkly and pretty, only to have it fall over the next day.  Talk about a huge mess with half of my ornaments broken.  It was a sad couple hours of clean up for me but we now have a quant adorable tree.  Following that "Christmas tree comedy," which I only thought happened in the movies, my family and I caught the flu which cooped us up in the house for a couple of days.
But out of every situation comes some sort of blessing, it's amazing how that happens.
My husband is now home, we are warm, enjoying our tree, and healthy.
I am beyond blessed and thankful.

See there is light at the end of every tunnel. Pretty sure that light is from the Lord.

Did I mention the same friends that blessed us with the tree were blessed with a handsome healthy baby boy!

Merry Christmas EVE!
Be Blessed.

Oh baby..

What is more beautiful than a glowing pregnant woman?

That woman holding her newborn in her arms.

Its one of the many blessings of Motherhood.

The sweet moments of snuggling, loving, and praying over that baby.

It just doesn't get much sweeter than this.

Congratulations Sweet Mama.

Dear Santa.

Dear Santa,

If I had a Christmas list and you were real, this would be it.

Especially number one and two (Epiphanie camera bag & 35mm lens).

A girl can wish right.

Or maybe just start saving her pennies.

P.S. I have been a very good girl this year.

Natural Beauty

Sparkling lights, ornaments, glitter.

Nope, not here, not this week.

Just plain natural beauty for the moment!

And I love it.

Holiday Sweets.

Who doesn't love Candy Canes?  They not only taste yummy but look oh so pretty as decorations too!

We were able to find some organic ones this year without high fructose corn syrup.  Yes they still have sugar but these are a once a year treat right. I LoVe the Holidays.

The kids had no complaints with turning that pretty decor into a tasty treat.

Okay here is the truth, the real reason we purchased these candy canes was to make a little peppermint bark.  It is probably one of my favorite holidays sweets.  It turned out delicious and was super easy to make.  I only used two ingredients; ghirardelli white chocolate and these candy canes. Whats your favorite Christmas goddie?

A sweet December day.

Today is Thursday December 1, 2011.  The temperature was quite brisk and the snow fell most of the day.  My little treasures and I enjoyed most our day inside together and ended the afternoon with Daddy.  Boots, hats, and gloves were layered on as we made our way out into the weather and headed for the church.  As we approached the giant church nestled at the base of those beautiful mountains, I couldn't help but have a happy heart.

The fog rested just below the mountain top and the snow decided to let up for a bit.
This place is gorgeous.

Tonight is Thursday which means the hubby leads a little worship in the World Prayer Center. This is a facility that the church has open 24 hours a day and there is almost always someone praying and worshiping in there.

Thank you Lord for this amazing day with my family and your beauty that surrounds us!
Your glory shines everywhere and I am so grateful for your love.

Blessed beyond words to have this man as my husband and father of our children.

A symbol of Christmas.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!
Thy leaves are so unchanging,
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!
Thy leaves are so unchanging,
Not only green when summer's here,
But also when 'tis cold and drear

Isn't our Colorado Christmas tree so beautiful this year? She is planted in our front yard and stays there with every season. Since we will be back in California for Christmas, we decided to just admire the beautiful tree that is outside of our home rather than buying one for our living room. This tree is one of my favorite parts of our landscaping and it has inspired me to do something a little different this year.
For the past few years we have had a tradition of scouting and cutting down our Christmas tree with our best friends. They have been so generous to invite us up to their property in the woods year after year. It is a special time filled with hot coco, hunting for the perfect tree, falling the tree, carry out the giants trees:) and sometimes even a little snow. This year we were absent from that tradition but I look forward to the years to come as more kiddos join the memories.

In less than two weeks we will be in California and I plan on visiting a local nursery to purchase a small potted Christmas tree. Arriving only two weeks before Christmas and my husband coming 4 days before Christmas I have decided to put up a small low mantinence tree. One that we can plant in our front yard after Christmas just like the one in Colorado.  As the tree grows through the seasons I hope it will  remind us that we need to celebrate the birth of Jesus everyday not just Christmas.

I am sure that tree will also bring us back to the sweet memories we are currently making as we rest here in Colorado.

Thankful for cousins

This past week we were so very blessed to visit our hometown and spend lots of time with loved ones.

It was a very busy week but well worth it as we were able to reconnect with our family, friends, and

church family.  The Rivera's have so much to be Thankful for this year, here are just a few of the

treasures we cherish.

Capturing personality through the lens.

I love capturing the personality of my children through the lens.  Ryden is very good at expressing his emotions with body gestures and facial expressions, we definitely don't ever have to guess how he is feeling.  This little man loves to make believe and has an amazing imagination.  Violet is a free happy spirit who likes to explore whenever possible.  Please excuse the messy hair and dirty faces as this wasn't a planned photo shoot just real life moments.

The Postman Outfit.

As I got dressed this morning and looked into the mirror the word mailman popped in my head.  Delivering mail was the job my Dad worked for the past 30 years.  It was a good living and my Dad faithfully worked hard to provide and care for his family.  The grey shirt and navy blue skirt took me back to my childhood as I remember my Dad wearing this very similar uniform 6 days a week.  Today I have a happy heart as I am reminded of my Fathers love and hard work he put in to care for his wife and 3 daughters. Love you Dad!

Have a great weekend friends

The favorite parts of my Thursday.

Most people would consider not having a vehicle or television complete torture.  I must admit the first week I experienced this it was indeed a little rough but now adjustments have taken place and I have really begun to appreciate the beauty behind it.  Instead of dwelling on not being able to hop in the car and drive to star-bucks, the thrift store, or on a play-date we have started our own routine at home... without Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  Ryden has started preschool at home and is loving it.  Violet gets a restful morning nap while Ryden does school.  Housework it tended and laundry keeps moving instead of piling up.  Crafts keep our little hands busy and hearts happy.  Walks to the park get us outside to soak up the fresh air while providing us with our daily dose of Vitamin D.  Pages on books are being read as I sip on my homemade espresso coffee.  I have to share a little secret with you though I am kind of a big dork.  When I do get Starbucks I save my coffee cup and drink my homemade white mocha out of it, for some reason it just tastes better to me.  Weird I am I know, but these are the things that get us through our day and I am more than blessed to stay home sharing these precious moments with my little children.

Sharing a vehicle and not having a TV has brought our family closer in a sense.  Our schedules and errands are now formed around each others agenda.   It has been challenging but really taught us how to give and take in order to meet the others needs.  Watching our favorite fall shows have been replaced with reading the bible together, doing homework, playing, or just talking about our day.  We do still have our apple addictions though so those of you who are reading this thinking WOW I will admit we still have our fall backs; apple technology of all sorts.  With all of that said I will now go on to show you some of the simple highlights to my Thursday.

These are the eyes I look into during our serious talks.  You know the make believe bear hunt talks.

Pushing my little love in the swing.

Homemade white mocha in Starbucks cup hehe.  This book is very encouraging.  I plan on passing it along to any fellow mother friends who would like to read it.

Amateur Photo Shoot.

Trying to figure out this sweet camera of ours without a manuel.  We purchased our Nikon D40 on craigslist for a smoking price but unfortunately it did not come with the manuel, this is a slight problem for a beginner. Thank goodness for the internet and all of the kind photographers who give step by step instructions and tips on their blogs.  There is still much to be figured out but by doing this I sure have captured many precious moments, that's the point of this thing right.  This evening we took a drive to find an empty field and I got to play with the camera while my husband got to drive his truck on a dirt road.  It was a win win compromise.
